Classes

Our facility offers classes for students of all ages and skill levels. We understand that paying attention to details is essential to ensuring proper technique and safety.

Safety is of the utmost importance in our gymnastics classes; therefore, some classes are only available through teacher invitation. Students must fulfill specific fundamental skills before advancing to these classes. Remember that every student progresses at a different pace, so some classes have a mixed age group. We will begin a waiting list if a class reaches its total capacity.

My Pal & Me
(Walking to 3 years old)

Enjoy quality time with your little one! This class introduces young children to basic tumbling concepts while providing a playful environment for students and parents to interact. Your child will improve their gross motor skills through stretching and movement exercises.

Preschool Dance
(3-4 year olds)

This class combines ballet and tap dance and is designed specifically for preschool-aged dancers. It is structured to introduce students to body awareness, coordination, and self-expression, along with the fun rhythms of tap dancing. Through creative exploration and a fun learning environment, students will be exposed to the fundamentals of dance.

Mini Classes
(Kindergarten & 1st grade)

Our studio provides introductory ballet, jazz, and tap classes for kindergarteners and first graders. These classes focus on teaching the fundamental skills of each genre, allowing students to build a strong foundation. With a solid grasp of these basics, students can progress to more advanced skills at an accelerated pace.

Gymnastics
(3 years & up)

Gymnastics classes focus on floor skills and techniques. Each class includes stretching, conditioning exercises, and skill-building equipment. Students progress at their own pace, and specific skill requirements are necessary to advance. Some students may need to retake a course multiple times for safety and consistency.

Classical Ballet
(2nd grade & up)

Dancers who favor a more structured approach to dance prefer classical ballet. This style helps develop grace, balance, focus, technique, and discipline. Classical ballet is the traditional and historical form of ballet and is taught to classical and instrumental music.

To help our competitive students reach their full potential, we require them to attend ballet classes. Ballet is known to improve their physical strength and flexibility and enhance their grace and poise both on and off the competition stage. Participating in ballet classes will give our students a competitive edge and help them stand out among their peers.

Pointe
(Teacher Invitation Only)

This particular form of ballet is only available to invited students. To qualify for an invitation, the student must have completed at least one year of teen ballet at AIM and be enrolled in ballet class while taking pointe. However, even if the student meets these requirements, the teacher will still need to assess whether their ankles, arches, and technique are strong enough to ensure that they are ready for this class.

It's important to note that AIM instructors always want students to succeed rather than struggle. Therefore, placing a student in a class they're not prepared for can be frustrating and embarrassing for them. We kindly ask that everyone respects our "teachers' invitation only" policy.

Contemporary
(3rd grade & up)

Contemporary dance is a widely popular form that emerged in the mid-twentieth century and has now become one of the most dominant performance genres for trained dancers worldwide. It originated from a combination of classical ballet, modern, and jazz styles. Its evolution continues, featuring variations of gymnastics skills.

Contemporary dance is a unique fusion of the strong and controlled legwork of ballet, the torso-centric approach of modern dance, and the contact-release, floor work, fall and recovery, and improvisation characteristics of modern dance. It often incorporates unpredictable changes in rhythm, speed, and direction, adding to its distinctiveness. This dance style places a strong emphasis on the balance between strength and flexibility, making it a captivating and beautiful form of expression.

Jazz
(2nd grade & up)

Jazz dance is a lively style that will leave students feeling energized and invigorated. With a comprehensive warm-up that includes stretching, isolations, and strengthening exercises, students will be ready to take on kicks and turns easily and leap across the floor.

No wonder jazz is a must-have class for all students looking to compete on our competitive team.

Tap
(2nd grade & up)

Tap dance is a form of dance where the dancer wears shoes with metal taps on the heels and toes. These taps help create rhythms and beats, turning the dancer into a percussive musician. The dance form emphasizes the flow of movement by teaching the dancer to find rhythms and beats in music and their bodies.

Hip-Hop
(Kindergarten & up)

With these classes, students will discover the art of hip-hop movement and unlock their creative potential. The upbeat and high-energy environment inspires students to express their style and connect with the rhythm of the music. Students will stretch, isolate, and strengthen their bodies as they master the funky footwork and memorize challenging choreography. These classes allow students to push their limits and unleash their inner artists.

Boys
(Refer to the classes above)

Boys are welcome to take any of the classes offered above. We provide a boys-only gymnastics class focusing mainly on tumbling skills and incorporating rings, bars, and pommel horse. All other courses are co-gender, and boys are encouraged to participate.
